May 25, 2018     Dunguaire Castle, and another Friday night at the Pub

Dunguaire Castle is a 16th-century tower house on the southeastern shore of Galway Bay in County Galway, Ireland.

Love the second line that calmly says, "....lands were surrendered to Queen Elizabeth which was common at the time."  What an Irishman would write is, "After fighting fiercely against the encroachment of the Normans and English, the O'Hynes clan was forced to surrender their property to Queen Elizabeth, who then gave it to Oliver Martyn for his loyalty to the English crown."

Lord and Lady O'Morgan.

A nice lady from the States took this for us.

More cozy apartment for the residents.

Our goofy guide, O'Simon, showing us a map.

This is a little tough to see, but Galway was trading all over the world in the 1600's!

Friday evening means another night of Irish music at the Creamery Pub! It was the same core group, although only one of the three members was there last week.

#2 A patron joined the band for this song. She is playing the Cajon, a box-like drum you sit on to play. https://youtu.be/Bh1VwjM6CvQ

#3 This one has vocals: https://youtu.be/eQZnVkr7AaU

#4 The banjo player has flying fingers! What muscle memory! https://youtu.be/N8VTmZzJhmw
