April 26, 2018   Thursday      Trails in Snowdonia National Park

Snowdonia is an area of beauty in northwest Wales.  We drove about an hour to have a look around.  The whole place looked like a movie setting for Lord of the Rings, or something!  Be prepared to see tons of scenic views!  Wales has a more rugged beauty to me than England.  I can see why the English had such difficulty getting control of the Welsh land.

Heading up to higher ground.

Moss is everywhere in the lower areas.

Simon in a tree.

Aaron giving directions.

Paul in a tree.

There were stone walls everywhere.  Some still in use, some not.  It made us wonder, "who built all these?"

Isn't' this one magical?

The view is getting better.

Higher up, there is less lush vegetation.

The girls!

Another wall.  This one looks recent.

Looking down in the valley.

Looking in the opposite direction in the valley.

Remnants of a house.  Perhaps for a shepherd?  We saw plenty of sheep.

These ladders were permanently set up for hikers.

Grace and Paul taking a break.

She conquered it!

Collin with the portrait setting on my camera.

Aaron at the top.

Simon makes hiking look easy.

Rod surveying the land.

Some of the hike was pretty squishy.

This large chair was welcomed for enjoying the view.

Tree climbing.

Paul and Collin

A waterfall.  The water was as clear as glass!

Aaron

Paul getting attacked by a Dragon bench!

Oh no!  It got Clare too!

The Dragon bench.

Aaron has tamed him.

Totally off subject......on the way home, we stopped at a grocery store and found the "American section" by the Mexican and Italian section.  Look at the prices!  One pound is equivalent to $1.40!  We didn't buy them.

So what do you think of the Welsh countryside?  Do you think it looks like something out of a movie?

  1. Wow, you nailed it. It really does look like they filmed Lord of The Rings here. I kept hoping to see a wizard or on elf! This place looks magical. Love it!
