Same day continued.................(the blog seems to fritz out on me when I try to make a long post)

The church built over the Roman houses is Sts. Giovanni E Paolo (John and Paul).

The belfry.

The front entrance.

The sanctuary.

The burial urn of the two saints under the altar.

The painting in the dome above the sanctuary.

A marker for the place the saints were beheaded.  The church is built over the actual spot.

Saints John and Paul on the ceiling holding swords, the method of their martyrdom.

Every good tour ends with cappuccino and pastries!  Fr. Greg and Libby, a parishioner that also went on the tour.

Fr. Brad and Brandon, another parishioner, went on the tour as well.

  1. You can see the importance of art 2000 years ago. Without the art we wouldn't have those beautiful churches, and beautiful paintings. It was through art that the history of man can be seen, from the caveman through to today. Thanks for sharing so many images!
Colorful journey to you all, Sandy
